Starting Rate: $15.32/hour

What are the requirements of a Material Handler?

  • Transporting various raw ingredients or finished products to where they are needed
  • Loading machines and other physically demanding tasks in the raw room
  • Utilize material handling equipment in a safe manner. Ensuring battery operated equipment is charging when not in use
  • Complete daily inspection and associated documentation of material handling equipment
  • Wrap and label loads prior to moving them and clean up any spillage created during transport
  • Complete associated documentation as established by Erie Meat Products for inventory tracking, HACCP plan compliance or other purposes
  • Ensure materials required to complete the days schedule are ready, work with Inventory Technician to ensure they are onsite

What will I need?

  • Walkie and/or forklift license may be required
  • Some experience in a warehouse environment, food processing or other manufacturing environment would be beneficial
  • CSA approved Steel-Toed Safety Footwear is mandatory
  • Reliability and good communication skills; able to follow verbal direction
  • Basic math skills required
  • Ability to lift 25kg repeatedly
  • Must be able to work with chicken, pork and/or beef
  • Must be able to work in a cool environment
  • Attention to detail
