Millwright (Industrial Mechanic)

Every week, we process more than 3 million pounds of meat, making us one of the largest meat manufacturing facilities in Canada.

We are currently hiring for a MILLWRIGHT (INDUSTRIAL MECHANIC). We have both day and night shift positions, and they are available immediately!

Industrial Mechanics install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair industrial machinery, mechanical equipment, and components for multiple production lines used in meat processing.

Details of this position:

  • Day shift and afternoon shift available
  • Monday to Friday (every other Saturday)
  • Full time, ongoing placement with room for advancement
  • Pay determined on knowledge, education, and skill level

Requirements of this position:

  • Setup, teardown, maintain, and repair production equipment. Includes completing changeover of lines or components as needed
  • Troubleshoot and solve various mechanical issues as they arise
  • Assist with new installations
  • Work independently, consistently monitoring production lines for issues and advising Production or Maintenance Lead Hands of any production impacts
  • Complete associated documentation as established by Erie Meat Products Ltd. for inventory tracking, HACCP plan compliance, or any other purposes
  • Provide support to any other maintenance staff including Electricians and Powerhouse
  • Act as an advisor to Machine Operators if non-mechanical issues occur
  • Complete preventative maintenance tasks as per our extensive PM programme

What will you need?

  • Industrial Mechanical Millwright Ticket (Red Seal)
  • CSA approved Steel-Toed Safety Footwear is mandatory
  • Reliability and good communication skills
  • Strong math skills
  • Proven mechanical aptitude
  • Strong judgement
  • Able to work independently
  • Initiative
  • Able to do a physically demanding job, having to lift approximately 30KG/66LBS repeatedly
  • Provide own tools
  • Some experience operating machinery in a food processing or other manufacturing environment
