Every week, we process more than 3 million pounds of meat, making us one of the largest meat manufacturing facilities in Canada.

We are currently hiring for MATERIAL HANDLERS. We have a day shift positions, and they are available immediately!

The Material Handler is responsible for constantly supplying the line with product and monitoring cooler inventory.

Details of this position:

  • Day shift: Hours vary
  • Monday to Friday
  • Full time, ongoing placement with room for advancement
  • Wage: $15.32 per hour

Requirements of this position:

  • Manually transport racks of cooked and prepared meats from coolers to production lines as directed. Read labels to determine selection
  • Assist to empty cooked product from the Smokehouse
  • Complete daily inventory of cooler
  • Perform regular daily routines with supervision from Lead Hand
  • Complete associated documentation as established by Erie Meat Products for inventory tracking, HACCP plan compliance, or other purposes
  • Ensure materials required to complete the day’s schedule are ready, work with Cooler Technician to ensure they are onsite or in process
  • Assist with general labour on production lines
  • Utilize material handling equipment in a safe manner, ensuring battery operated equipment is charging when not in use
  • Complete daily inspection and associated documentation of material handling equipment, reporting any mechanical issues to maintenance personnel
  • Transport loads to/from storage or production areas and places in designated areas
  • Wrap and label loads prior to moving them and clean up any spillage created during transport

What will you need?

  • CSA approved Steel-Toed Safety Footwear is mandatory
  • Walkie license may be required
  • Some experience in a food processing or other manufacturing environment
  • Reliability and good communication skills
  • Positive attitude
  • Initiative
  • Physically demanding job (able to push/pull racks weighing up to 800KG/1764LBS; lift 30KG/66LBS repeatedly)
  • Ability to be on feet for 8-10 hours
